PRESS RELEASE

The Argentine artist Edgardo Giménez, acclaimed around the world, is preparing to dazzle the public once again with the  presentation at arteBA 2023 of  Fancy Monas , his first algorithmically generated digital project.

After the successful inauguration at the Malba of his retrospective  There will be no equal , Giménez invites you to immerse yourself in the world of his cuteness with an impressive exhibition at the 32nd contemporary art fair that includes  giant screens where his irreverent cutenesses will be the great hosts . The  1942  Fancy Monas  created in conjunction with the  artbag interdisciplinary team,  can be seen from September 1 to 3 at the  MC Galería space , located at stand A36 in the main section of arteBA.

This innovative project  combines cutting-edge technologies with a first-class historical heritage, opening new doors to the future of art. Fancy Monas  reinvents the famous monkeys born in the 60s, with the irreverent and cheerful character that characterizes them, to bring them closer to the new generations and the digital world. Each of them is unique and conveys the artist’s unwavering sense of humor , offering insight into her creative universe.

“His free and curious spirit keeps him in constant motion and this new launch is a sign of his desire to continue innovating ,” shares María Calcaterra , the director of the gallery that has represented the artist for 10 years now.

The algorithm designed to produce the Fancy Monas was developed by an interdisciplinary team that, under the direction of Edgardo Giménez, analyzed more than 200 archival pieces and carefully edited the collection on more than 53,000,000 possible combinations . Each look, smile, hairstyle, accessory, dress and feature that makes each Fancy Mona unique is a historical reference, the result of an extensive documentary survey on the artist’s production and interests.

This release  is supported by  artbag , the NFT art platform  that introduced N1 digital artist, Refik Anadol, for the first time to Argentina, with a free exhibition at the Teatro Colón and in the woods of Palermo. “Edgardo adopted the algorithm as one more tool to rethink his own history using technology and take his art to new dimensions and formats” , they share from the platform.

The works are sold in two exhibition formats:  in a fine art version signed by the artist and accompanied by a QR code  that connects buyers with their digital universe and the  NFT of each work . In addition, in this edition of arteBA, it will be possible to acquire a  24 cm x 13 cm Infinite Object digital exhibition device  that reproduces the Fancy Mona and includes a support designed by the artist.

Edgardo Giménez is a self-taught artist, designer and tireless enthusiast, recognized as one of the most influential in the world . His production encompasses painting, sculpture, graphics, architecture, fashion and set design. More than 20 museums globally have his work among his collections. His work is present in the most important museums in the world such as the MoMA (New York), the MET (New York), the LACMA (Los Angeles), the Getty (Los Angeles), El Museo del Barrio (New York), and the National Museum of Fine Arts (Buenos Aires), among many others.

Without a doubt, “Fancy Monas” promises to be one of the  main attractions at arteBA 2023,  captivating attendees and resonating on the international art scene. The pieces  can be purchased online at  https://fancymonas.io
